Mattress financing
A third of your life, bought once a decade. Worth doing properly, and financing exists so that a tight month does not decide the quality.
The short version
A quality queen mattress runs roughly $800 to $2,500, and an adjustable base adds $800 to $2,000 on top. Programs start at $200, with a no-credit-needed option up to $7,500 that decides on income rather than a credit score. Delivery, setup and removal of the old mattress can generally be financed alongside the bed.
Realistic expectations
What a sleep set typically costs
Prices below are working ranges for queen size, which is where most purchases sit.
| Purchase | Typical cost | Usually financed as |
|---|---|---|
| Entry foam or innerspring | $400–$800 | No credit needed |
| Mid-range hybrid | $900–$1,800 | No credit needed |
| Premium hybrid or latex | $1,800–$4,000 | Lease |
| Adjustable base | $800–$2,000 | No credit needed, or lease |
| Full set with base and bedding | $2,500–$6,000 | Lease or installment loan |
| King upgrade | Add roughly 25–35% | Per program |
Ranges reflect published program terms. Approval, approval amount and terms are determined by the provider after underwriting and are not guaranteed.
Buying well
Four things that matter more than the brand
Check the trial period
Most mattress retailers offer a sleep trial of 90 to 120 nights. Make sure the trial outlasts the point at which you would want to change your mind.
Align the trial with the buyout window
If the trial is 100 nights and the same-as-cash window is 90 days, those two clocks nearly overlap. Know both dates on the day you sign.
Include the base
An old sagging foundation will undo a new mattress. Financing the base with the mattress is almost always better than adding it separately later.
Ask about removal
Haul-away of the old mattress is usually available and can be included in the financed amount. Disposal is otherwise a surprisingly awkward problem.
What is covered
Mattresses and the rest of the bed
Mattresses
All sizes and types — foam, hybrid, innerspring, latex — from every brand a participating retailer carries.
Bases and frames
Adjustable bases, foundations, box springs and bed frames.
Delivery and removal
Delivery, in-room setup and haul-away of the old mattress.
A note on “free” bedding bundles
Pillows and sheets thrown in with a mattress are rarely free; they are usually priced into the mattress. If you do not need them, ask what the mattress costs without the bundle.
Keeping the cost down
Where the money actually is
The early buyout
On a $1,500 mattress financed over 24 months as a lease, settling inside the same-as-cash window typically saves well over $1,000 against running to term.
Holiday pricing
Mattress retail runs on predictable sale cycles. If the purchase can wait a few weeks for a major holiday weekend, the discount often exceeds anything financing terms will change.
Questions
Common questions
Can I finance a mattress with no credit?
Yes. The no-credit-needed program starts at $200 and runs to $7,500, deciding on income and banking history rather than a credit score.
Can I return the mattress during the sleep trial?
That is between you and the retailer, and most offer 90 to 120 nights. Returning it does not automatically end a financing agreement — speak to both the retailer and the provider.
Does it cover an adjustable base?
Yes. Bases, foundations and frames can be financed with the mattress, which is generally better than adding them later.
How much can I finance?
From $200 up to $7,500 on the no-credit-needed program, up to $15,000 on a lease, and up to $50,000 on an installment loan.
Is delivery included?
Delivery, setup and old mattress removal can usually be financed with the purchase. Ask the retailer to put them on the invoice.
